Lothair II of Italy

c. 926–950 · 10th century · Also known as Lothair of Italy, Lothair of Arles

Lothair II was king of Italy, a son of Hugh of Arles, who made him co-king in 931; he ruled alone from 947 until his early death in 950. He married Adelaide, daughter of Rudolf II of Burgundy, and after his death Berengar of Ivrea seized the throne. Adelaide's escape and marriage to Otto I in 951 drew the German king into Italy.
