Macrianus (Alemannic king)
Macrianus was a king of the Alemannic Bucinobantes, who lived opposite Mainz, in the later fourth century. The emperor Valentinian I tried to seize him in 372 and to replace him with Fraomarius, but failed, and in 374 met him on the Rhine near Mainz to make peace. Macrianus remained a loyal ally of Rome until he was ambushed and killed while raiding Frankish territory by the Frankish king Mallobaudes.
