Madra Kingdom
The Madras were an ancient people of the Punjab in north-western India, named in Vedic texts, the Mahabharata and Buddhist sources, with their capital at Sakala, modern Sialkot. In the epic, Madri, the wife of Pandu, and her brother Shalya are Madras. Buddhist tradition records that King Bimbisara of Magadha took a Madra princess, Khema, as one of his wives.
