Martapura
Martapura is a town in South Kalimantan, Indonesia, south-east of Banjarmasin on the Martapura river. After a Dutch attack on Banjarmasin in 1612 the court of the Banjar Sultanate moved upstream to Martapura, which remained a royal seat. It is known as a centre of Islamic learning, associated with the scholar Muhammad Arsyad al-Banjari, and for its diamond fields and gem markets.
