Martha's Vineyard
Martha's Vineyard is an island off the south coast of Cape Cod in Massachusetts, the Wampanoag land of Noepe. English settlers under Thomas Mayhew arrived in the 1640s, and many of the island's Wampanoag became Christian converts. Governed under New York from 1671, it was joined to the Province of Massachusetts Bay by the charter of 1691.
