Martin I of Sicily

c. 1374–1409 · 14th century · Also known as Martin the Younger

Martin I, called Martin the Younger, was King of Sicily from 1390 to 1409, the son of Martin I of Aragon. He restored royal authority over the Sicilian barons, and in 1409 he won the Battle of Sanluri in Sardinia, breaking the power of Arborea, but died of fever at Cagliari weeks later. His death without a legitimate heir ended the separate Sicilian line, and the island passed to the Crown of Aragon.
