Marwan ibn Abd al-Aziz
Marwan ibn Abd al-Aziz was the qadi, chief judge, of Valencia, whom the city's notables recognised as ruler in 1145 after expelling the Almoravid governor. His brief rule was part of the wave of urban revolts that ended Almoravid power in eastern al-Andalus and created the second taifa kingdoms, before Valencia passed to Ibn Mardanish.
