Person
Ibn Mardanish
Ibn Mardanish, called the Wolf King by Christian writers, ruled Murcia and Valencia in eastern al-Andalus from 1147 until his death. He resisted the Almohads by allying with Castile, Aragon and the Italian maritime cities, paying tribute and employing Christian soldiers, among them Pedro Ruiz de Azagra, the later lord of Albarracín. His father-in-law Ibn Hamushk of Jaén was his ally. After his death his sons submitted to the Almohads.
