Atlas Mountains
The Atlas Mountains are a mountain range in north-western Africa, running through Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia. The Almohad movement began among the Masmuda Berbers of the High Atlas, at Tinmel, from where it challenged the Almoravid Empire. The mountains also bordered the territories of the Punic Empire in North Africa.
