Mary of Hungary, Queen of Naples

c. 1257–1323 · 13th century

Mary of Hungary was a daughter of Stephen V of Hungary who married Charles II of Naples and became queen of Naples. After the death of her brother Ladislaus IV in 1290 she claimed the Hungarian throne for her family, and the claim passed through her son Charles Martel to her grandson Charles Robert of Anjou, who became Charles I of Hungary. She was a notable patron of churches in Naples.
