d. 957 · 10th century

Marzuban ibn Muhammad was a Daylamite ruler of the Sallarid, or Musafirid, dynasty who seized Azerbaijan in 941 after the fall of the Sajids, ruling from Ardabil and Tabriz and extending his authority over Arran, Shirvan and Armenian princes. He faced a Rus raid that captured Barda'a in 943. Captured by the Buyid Rukn al-Dawla in 948, he was imprisoned for several years and regained power before his death in 957.
