Sajid dynasty

889–929 · 9th century · Also known as Sajids

The Sajid dynasty was a family of Abbasid governors, descended from the Central Asian commander Abu'l-Saj Devdad of Ushrusana, who ruled Azerbaijan and dominated Armenia from about 889 to 929. Its most powerful member, Yusuf ibn Abi'l-Saj, invaded Armenia, executed King Smbat I in 914 and supported the rival Artsruni kingdom of Vaspurakan. Sajid power collapsed after Yusuf was killed fighting the Qarmatians in 928.
