Bagratuni dynasty

Also known as Bagratids of Armenia, Bagratids (Armenia), Armenian Bagratids

The Bagratuni dynasty was an Armenian noble house that rose from among the great princely families of the Arsacid kingdom to become the leading power in Armenia. Ashot I was recognised as king in 884–885 by both the Abbasid caliph and the Byzantine emperor, and the dynasty ruled the restored Kingdom of Armenia, from Ani in its later years, until Byzantium annexed it in 1045.
