Bagrationi dynasty

Also known as Bagratids (Georgia), Georgian Bagratids

The Bagrationi were the royal dynasty of Georgia, one of the longest-ruling families in the world. Rising in Tao-Klarjeti in the 9th century, they united Georgia under Bagrat III in the early 11th century and reached their height under David IV and Queen Tamar. After the kingdom split in the 15th century, branches ruled Kartli, Kakheti and Imereti until Russia annexed them in 1801 and 1810.
