Amasya
Amasya is a city in northern Anatolia, Turkey, in the narrow gorge of the Yeşilırmak river. As ancient Amaseia it was a capital of the kings of Pontus, whose rock tombs line the cliffs, and the birthplace of the geographer Strabo. Later held by the Danishmendids and Seljuks, under the Ottomans it was a seat where young princes trained as governors.
