Yeşilırmak
The Yeşilırmak, the ancient Iris, is a river of northern Anatolia, Turkey, flowing past Tokat and Amasya to the Black Sea east of Samsun. Its valley, with that of its tributary the Lycus (Kelkit), formed the heartland of the Hellenistic Kingdom of Pontus, whose royal tombs are cut into the cliffs above it at Amasya. Its Turkish name means 'green river'.
