Mavura Mhande
Mavura Mhande was a ruler of the Mutapa kingdom, installed by the Portuguese in 1629 after they defeated Nyambo Kapararidze. In return he signed a treaty that made Mutapa a vassal of Portugal, admitted missionaries and opened the country's gold mines to Portuguese traders. He was baptised a Christian, and his reign marked the height of Portuguese influence over the kingdom.
