Person
Mavia
Mavia was a queen of the Arab Tanukhids in the later 4th century CE who led a revolt against Rome in the 370s. Her forces ravaged Palestine and Phoenicia and defeated Roman troops, until the emperor Valens accepted her demand that an Arab hermit named Moses be made bishop of her people. Her troops later helped defend Constantinople against the Goths after the Battle of Adrianople.
