Arabia

Also known as Arabian

Arabia is the region of the Arabian Peninsula in south-west Asia, bounded by the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea and the Persian Gulf. It was the birthplace of Islam and the starting point of the Rashidun Caliphate's conquests. Its ports and incense routes linked it to the Aksumite, Babylonian and Chaldean worlds, and its coasts were part of Indian Ocean trade networks used by states such as the Srivijaya and Maratha empires.
