Arabah

Also known as Wadi Araba

The Arabah is the long desert valley running south from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba, now forming part of the border between Israel and Jordan. Rich in copper ores at Faynan and Timna, it was an important mining area in the Bronze and Iron Ages, and the land of Edom lay in the mountains on its eastern side. Caravan routes from Arabia also crossed it.
