Khirbat en-Nahas

Also known as Khirbet en-Nahas

Khirbat en-Nahas, 'ruins of copper', is a large Iron Age copper-smelting site in the Faynan district of southern Jordan. Excavations led by Thomas Levy and Mohammad Najjar from 2002 dated much of its activity to the 10th and 9th centuries BCE, earlier than once believed, and linked it to the rise of an Edomite elite. The site has a fortress, buildings and huge slag mounds.
