Bozrah

Also known as Busayra

Bozrah was the capital of the Iron Age kingdom of Edom, identified with the site of Busayra in southern Jordan, south of Tafilah. Excavations by Crystal-M. Bennett in the 1970s uncovered a fortified town with a large palace or temple complex, mainly of the 8th to 6th centuries BCE, when Edom was a vassal of Assyria. The Hebrew Bible mentions it in prophecies against Edom; it is distinct from Bosra in Syria.
