12th–13th century · 12th century · Also known as MacWilliams

The Meic Uilleim, or MacWilliams, were descendants of William fitz Duncan, a grandson of Malcolm III, who claimed the Scottish throne. From the 1180s they raised repeated revolts in Moray and Ross against the kings William the Lion and Alexander II. The line ended in 1230, when the last known member, an infant girl, was killed at Forfar.
