Moray Firth

The Moray Firth is a large inlet of the North Sea in north-eastern Scotland, reaching inland to Inverness. Its fertile coastal lowlands formed the heart of the Pictish kingdom of Fortriu and later of the medieval kingdom or mormaerdom of Moray, whose rulers, including Macbeth, contested the Scottish throne. Pictish carved stones and the fort of Burghead stand on its shores.
