Inverness
Inverness is a city in the Highlands of Scotland, at the mouth of the River Ness on the Moray Firth. The nearby hill fort of Craig Phadrig and the area around the Ness are associated with the Pictish king Bridei son of Maelchon, whom Columba visited in the 560s. Inverness became a royal burgh in the twelfth century and is now the administrative centre of the Highland council area.
