Portmahomack

Portmahomack is a village on the Tarbat peninsula in Easter Ross, Scotland. Excavations from 1994 to 2007 revealed a Pictish monastery of the 6th to 9th centuries beneath and around its church, with workshops for vellum, metalwork and glass and fragments of fine carved stones. The monastery was burnt around 800, probably in a Viking raid. It is the best-known Pictish monastic site.
