Burghead
Burghead is a village on the Moray Firth coast of north-east Scotland, built over the largest known Pictish fort. The promontory fort, defended by massive timber-laced ramparts, was occupied from about the 4th to the 10th century and was probably a major royal centre of the northern Picts. It is famous for its carved Pictish bull stones and a rock-cut underground well.
