Melisende Psalter

c. 1135 · 12th century

The Melisende Psalter is an illuminated psalter made in the scriptorium of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem around 1131–1143, probably for Queen Melisende. Its miniatures and carved ivory covers combine Byzantine, Western European and Eastern Christian styles, and it is one of the finest surviving works of crusader art. It is now in the British Library in London.
