Mersin

Mersin is a port city on the Mediterranean coast of southern Turkey, capital of Mersin province, which covers the western part of ancient Cilicia. The modern city grew in the 19th century as an outlet for cotton from the Çukurova plain and is now one of Turkey's largest ports. Nearby lies the prehistoric mound of Yumuktepe, settled from about 7000 BCE.
