Michel Raymond

1755–1798 · 18th century · Also known as Michel Joachim Marie Raymond

Michel Raymond was a French soldier of fortune who commanded a large French-trained corps in the service of Nizam Ali Khan of Hyderabad. His force fought at Kharda in 1795. He died in Hyderabad in 1798, and shortly afterwards the British required the Nizam to disband the corps under the subsidiary alliance; his tomb in Hyderabad is still honoured.
