Migration of the Yuezhi

c. 176 BCE · 2nd century BCE

The migration of the Yuezhi was the westward movement of the Yuezhi people from the borders of China into Central Asia, driven by Xiongnu attacks around 176 BCE. They eventually settled in Bactria. One branch later founded the Kushan Empire, so the Xiongnu Empire's victory had far-reaching consequences.
