Minh Hương

Also known as Minh Huong

The Minh Hương were descendants of Chinese, many of them Ming loyalists, who settled in Vietnam after the fall of the Ming dynasty in 1644. Registered as a separate community, they intermarried with Vietnamese, adopted local customs and served as merchants, officials and scholars under the Nguyen lords and emperors. The scholar-official Trịnh Hoài Đức was among them.
