Mir Safdar Ali Khan

ruled 1886–1891 · 19th century

Safdar Ali Khan was the Mir of Hunza, in the Karakoram, from 1886, after the death of his father Ghazan Khan. His raids on caravans and contacts with Russia and China alarmed the British, who sent a force against Hunza and Nagar in 1891. After the fall of the Nilt fort he fled to Chinese Xinjiang, and the British installed his half-brother Muhammad Nazim Khan.
