Baltit Fort

Baltit Fort is a fortified palace above Karimabad in the Hunza valley of northern Pakistan, with parts traditionally dated to the thirteenth century. For centuries it was the residence of the Mirs of Hunza, who controlled the Karakoram route towards Kashgar. Abandoned as a residence in the twentieth century, it was restored by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture and opened as a museum in 1996.
