Mitakshara
The Mitakshara is a commentary on the Yajnavalkya Smriti, a Sanskrit text on Hindu law, written by the jurist Vijnaneshvara at the court of the Western Chalukya king Vikramaditya VI in the late 11th or early 12th century. It became the most influential authority on Hindu law in most of India, especially on inheritance and joint family property, and British courts applied its rules outside Bengal.
