Mizpah in Benjamin
Mizpah in Benjamin was an ancient town north of Jerusalem, usually identified with Tell en-Nasbeh. The Bible describes it as a gathering place of the tribes and a border fortress between Judah and Israel. After the Babylonians destroyed Jerusalem in 587 or 586 BCE it became the seat of the governor Gedaliah, and excavations show that it continued to flourish while Jerusalem lay in ruins.
