Babylonians

The Babylonians were the inhabitants of Babylonia in southern Mesopotamia, centred on the city of Babylon. They were long rivals of the Assyrians, and in alliance with the Medes they destroyed the Assyrian Empire at the end of the seventh century BCE. They were later absorbed into the Achaemenid Empire after Cyrus conquered Babylon in 539 BCE.
