Molokaʻi
Molokaʻi is one of the main Hawaiian Islands, lying between Oʻahu and Maui. Known for the sea cliffs of its north coast and the fishponds of its southern shore, it was often contested between the chiefs of Oʻahu and Maui. From 1866 the isolated Kalaupapa peninsula was used as a settlement for people with leprosy, where Father Damien worked.
