Montoire-sur-le-Loir

Montoire-sur-le-Loir is a small town in the Loir-et-Cher department of central France. On 24 October 1940 Marshal Philippe Pétain met Adolf Hitler at its railway station, and the handshake between them became the symbol of the Vichy regime's policy of collaboration with Nazi Germany, which Pétain announced in a radio broadcast a few days later.
