Mozaffar ad-Din Shah Qajar

1853–1907 · 19th century · Also known as Mozaffar ad-Din Shah

Mozaffar ad-Din Shah Qajar was shah of Iran from 1896 to 1907, succeeding his assassinated father Naser al-Din Shah. Short of money, he took large Russian loans and granted concessions, including the D'Arcy oil concession of 1901. Facing the Constitutional Revolution, he signed the constitution of December 1906 that created an elected parliament, the Majlis, shortly before his death.
