Muhammad III of Granada

1257–1314 · 13th century

Muhammad III was the third Nasrid emir of Granada, reigning from 1302 to 1309. A patron of building, he constructed the main mosque of the Alhambra. His capture of Ceuta in 1306 helped provoke an alliance of Castile, Aragon and the Marinids against Granada, and in 1309 a palace revolt deposed him in favour of his brother Nasr; he died in confinement in 1314.
