Marinid dynasty

Also known as Marinid, Marinids

The Marinid dynasty was a Berber dynasty that ruled Morocco from the mid-thirteenth to the fifteenth century. The Marinids rose as the Almohad Caliphate disintegrated and captured Marrakesh in 1269, ending Almohad rule. They inherited administrative and commercial structures from the Almohad and Almoravid periods and were noted patrons of madrasas.
