Mularaja was the founder of the Chaulukya, or Solanki, dynasty of Gujarat, ruling from Anahilavada (Patan) from about 941 to 996. By tradition the nephew of the last Chavda king, he seized the throne around 942 and built a kingdom across northern Gujarat, fighting the Chahamanas of Shakambhari and the rulers of Saurashtra.
