Munjamyeong of Goguryeo

d. 519 · 6th century · Also known as Munja of Goguryeo

Munjamyeong of Goguryeo, also known as King Munja, ruled Goguryeo from 491 to 519 as the grandson and successor of King Jangsu. In 494 the last ruler of the kingdom of Buyeo surrendered to him, completing Goguryeo's absorption of the state from which its founder was said to have come. His reign marked the height of Goguryeo's territorial power.
