Mỵ Châu

Also known as My Chau

Mỵ Châu is a princess of Vietnamese legend, daughter of King An Dương Vương of Âu Lạc. She married Trọng Thủy, son of Zhao Tuo of Nanyue, who used her trust to steal the magic crossbow that protected the citadel of Cổ Loa, allowing his father to conquer the kingdom around 179 BCE. The story explains the fall of Âu Lạc and is commemorated at temples in Cổ Loa.
