Nabu-mukin-zeri

r. 731–729 BCE · 8th century BCE · Also known as Nabu-mukin-zeri of Bit-Amukani, Mukin-zeri

Nabu-mukin-zeri was a chief of the Chaldean tribe of Bit-Amukani who seized the throne of Babylon in 731 BCE after a period of turmoil following the death of Nabonassar. Tiglath-pileser III of Assyria campaigned against him, besieged his tribal centre of Sapia and by 729 BCE had overthrown him and taken the Babylonian throne himself.
