Nakbe
Nakbe is a Maya archaeological site in the Mirador Basin of northern Guatemala, about 13 kilometres south-east of El Mirador. One of the earliest Maya cities, it had large platforms and temples in the Middle Preclassic period, from about 800 BCE, among the oldest monumental buildings in the Maya lowlands, and it was linked to El Mirador by a causeway. It declined in the Late Preclassic period.
