National People's Power
The National People's Power is a left-wing political alliance in Sri Lanka formed in 2019 around the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna together with trade unions, professional and civil-society groups. Led by Anura Kumara Dissanayake, it grew after the economic crisis and protests of 2022 by campaigning against corruption and the established parties. In 2024 its leader won the presidency and the alliance took a two-thirds majority in parliament.
