Naypyidaw

2005 · 21st century · Also known as Nay Pyi Taw

Naypyidaw is the capital of Myanmar, a planned city built in secret by the military government in central Myanmar from about 2002. The government moved there from Yangon in November 2005, and its name, meaning 'abode of kings', was announced in 2006. It is known for its very wide, largely empty roads and its distance from the country's population centres.
