Burma

Burma, now Myanmar, is a country in mainland Southeast Asia. The Qing Empire fought a series of costly and unsuccessful wars against Burma in the 1760s. Burma was annexed by the British Empire in the nineteenth century, conquered by Japan in 1942, and became independent in 1948 during British decolonisation.
